CCP congratulates Layla Boydell for her outstanding effort and tenacity in walking  the Cheltenham half marathon route, a 13.1  distance. Completing the task on 19th February 2023, Layla’s journey raised a total of £2,470.70 absolutely smashing her original target of £1,000.

As a member of the 36th Cheltenham (St Nicholas) Brownies, Layla was keen to obtain her Charities Interest badge and chose CCP as her designated charity. “I chose CCP in Cheltenham because I wanted to raise money for people who are struggling in my community”. Layla wasted no time, writing a letter to Cordell Ray, CEO who gladly accepted Layla’s offer and provided a special pin badge for her to wear while walking.

A crowd gathered around the finish line at Cheltenham Racecourse to welcome Layla and her supporter’s home after a long journey. Layla was awarded two medals, a certificate, flowers and a signed card for her effort. The event captured the attention of the senior sub-editor of Gloucestershire Echo who included it in the paper that week.

CCP is thrilled with Layla’s tenacity for rising to the challenge and providing the Cheltenham community with some significant support! The funds went straight towards the Community Pantry, helping to support members which have doubled in numbers this last year. A shining example of what going above and beyond can achieve.
