Temporary Accommodation Support

Our Temporary Accommodation Support Service in Teignbridge helps people and families who are temporarily homeless to find and sustain permanent accommodation. The team delivers short-term support to help people develop the skills to become self-reliant and resilient, and live independently in the long term such as:
  • Creating a personal action and support plan
  • Budgeting advice and income maximisation, including support to obtain bank accounts and ID
  • Assistance to start saving towards the costs of moving to a new home
  • Support to access grants and other funding to help people move into alternative accommodation
  • Support to claim relevant welfare benefits and/or migrate to Universal Credit
  • Tenancy-ready training, including tenant responsibilities and managing a tenancy
  • Support to secure alternative accommodation
  • Support to set up a new home for 3 months after moving in, including notification of address changes and setting up utilities
  • Assistance to secure furniture, white goods and other essential items
  • Accessing support from GP, NHS services, Drug and Alcohol Services and Debt Advice
