We are sad to announce that the CCP Big SleepOut event is cancelled and will not be taking place in October 2020. 

This was not an easy decision to make but we believe it is the right one given the current position with COVID. We have taken into consideration the responses to the recent survey of past and possible participants as well as the health and safety of our supporters and staff which is always of the utmost importance.   

We are so thankful for the support we have received for this fundraising initiative and for our cause tackling the causes and effects of homelessness. It is no secret that our services are now in more demand than ever as those that were sheltered in temporary accommodation are evicted; and as people who have never experienced hardship before are being plunged into poverty.  

However, there are still ways that you can help us to raise awareness and prevent homelessness this year! Check out some of the ideas below - we would really appreciate your continued support. 

World Homeless Day – Saturday 10th October 

Our social media channels will be full of key information in the run up to National World Homeless Day. It is particularly important this year that people are aware of the support CCP can offer those experiencing an unexpected loss of income due to the COVID-19 pandemic. You never know who might need to hear our messages so help us raise awareness by interacting and sharing our posts on Facebook , Twitter , Instagram and Linkedin . 

Hamper Scamper Appeal 

We know from our Emergency FoodShare appeal during lockdown that the demand for food provisions has been unprecedented and sadly the need will only increase as the economic impact continues. Last year our Hamper Scamper Appeal provided 1757 festive food hampers and over 2000 children’s gifts where people across Gloucestershire were struggling over the Christmas period. To be able to provide this service again, we are relying on local businesses and individuals to donate food items which can then be packed into hampers. We understand it is a difficult time with many offices still out of action but if you or a colleague can organise a collection of food items that would be incredible! Click here for a shopping list and more information.

We were blown away when the Big SleepOut 2018 raised over £60,000 and could be used to extended winter shelters for so many that were sleeping rough. We’d hoped for a similar level of income this year but, as that wasn’t to be, if you are able to make a donation, large or small, it will be so significant to the life of a local person who is facing homelessness.   

Where your money goes...

£20.00 pays for a 1-hour information, advice and guidance session for somebody who needs to understand what benefits are available to them following the loss of their job.  

£52.00 funds a food hamper for a large family who are living in poverty and worrying about the expectations of the festive season. 

£500.00 can provide 10 boxes of essential items for homeless young people moving into supported accommodation without many possessions.  

£6,000.00 is the cost to keep our Advocab on the road, providing a mobile response and outreach vehicle for entrenched rough sleepers or to rural and isolated communities.
