Homeless Prevention

Homelessness prevention, tenancy floating support, rough sleeper support and SWEP provision across Worcestershire.

The Worcestershire Homelessness Prevention Service (HoPES) is for single people and childless couples across Worcestershire who are at risk of homelessness or rough sleeping. The service can provide advice and support for tenancy issues, housing rights & homelessness, budgeting & benefit take-up, housing-related debt, training & employment and social & community inclusion.
The service can be accessed through the district Housing Options Teams and offers:
  • A Single Point of Access for all individuals at risk of homelessness – The point of entry for referrals is through each of the district Housing Options Teams in Worcestershire, with a focus on early intervention and prevention.
  • No Second Night Out Outreach Service – Targeted at people who are spending their first night sleeping rough.
  • Homeless Prevention Support – Support to individuals at the earliest opportunity to prevent tenancy breakdown or to prevent homelessness from other causes, including a tenancy relations service between a landlord and tenant to ensure tenancy sustainment. Service delivery is limited to 3 months except in exceptional circumstances.
  • Tenancy Ready Floating Support – Intensive support to people living in emergency or temporary accommodation and people who have recently experienced homelessness. Service delivery is limited to 6 months whilst the customer is living in emergency or temporary accommodation, except in exceptional circumstances. Once rehoused, any further support required can be provided by the homeless prevention support element of the service.
  • Peer to Peer Advice and Guidance – Direct peer to peer mentoring for homeless individuals.

The Homelessness Prevention Service is available to:
