Thank you for your interest in the Cheltenham Challenge. You may have some questions about the event and how it is going to take place virtually, hopefully we have answered these below but if not, please do not hesitate to contact us on [email protected]

WHAT IS A VIRTUAL RUN?

A virtual run means you can take part at any time, in any location and at your own pace. You can choose to follow one of the original Cheltenham Challenge routes or choose your own. It is a great challenge to take on whilst live events are not guaranteed and it allows you the flexibility to adapt to current government restrictions. You will still receive your t-shirt and finishers medal and can take advantage of the online atmosphere and gain encouragement via our social media channels.

HOW DO I TAKE PART?

To sign up to the virtual Cheltenham Challenge, click here and choose your preferred distance.

Once registered, you can choose the route you would like to take and whether you would like to complete the challenge in one day or over several days. If you would like some inspiration, see links below to our live event Cheltenham Challenge routes or join our Facebook Group to see what routes other participants are taking.

We would like the majority of participants to take on the challenge over the weekend of 22nd/23rd May 2021. If this is not convenient, you can choose a date that is most suitable before that weekend. Medals will be sent out via post within 2 weeks of Monday 24th May.

When you have completed your challenge, email your time to [email protected] to be added to our leaderboard. If you are one of the fastest runners, we will ask you to show evidence of your time and distance to be in for the chance to win fastest runner glory in your age category!

WHAT DOES MY ENTRY FEE INCLUDE?

The Cheltenham Challenge is a key fundraising event for CCP - Caring for Communities & People. We are based in Cheltenham and deliver services across the South West and West Midlands. By entering this event you are making a significant contribution to our frontline services tackling the causes and effects of homelessness, family breakdown and exclusion.

Oh and you get a jazzy looking technical t-shirt and a 2021 finishers medal!

WHEN DO I GET MY T-SHIRT & MEDAL?

We will start posting t-shirts out from 1st April to those that have entered prior to that date. Following that you should receive your t-shirt within 2 weeks of entering the challenge. We would love you to train wearing your t-shirt and give others a wave and some encouragement when you see them. Your medal will be sent to you in the post within 2 weeks of the challenge end date – Monday 24th May.

WHO ARE CCP?

CCP stands for Caring for Communities & People and that is what we do. We exist to tackle the causes and effects of homelessness, family breakdown and exclusion. With our head office in Cheltenham, we deliver services across Gloucestershire as well as Bristol, Dorset, Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Wiltshire.

We believe that everybody has the power to change their lives for the better, but some need a little help along the way!

Our services include:

  • Reaching out to people enduring a life living out in the open and on the streets.
  • Providing supported housing for 16 – 25 year olds who would otherwise be homeless.
  • Debt, housing and benefit advice for those on the brink of homelessness.
  • Helping to strengthen families who are facing difficulties.
  • Providing trained volunteers to act as appropriate adults when a young person, or adult with learning disabilities, is held in custody.
  • Engaging with and supporting individuals to move closer towards education, training, volunteering or work.
  • Connecting isolated people with their local community.
  • Emergency Food Parcels & Pantry Project for those living in poverty.

For more information about our services please continue to browse this website. Our Recent News page shows some of the work we have been doing throughout the pandemic.

DO I HAVE TO FUNDRAISE?

Just by entering you are contributing to the work of CCP – Thank you!

If you are able to support our cause further, we would love you to set up an online giving page and invite your friends and family to sponsor your challenge. Here are our fundraising tips and do not hesitate to contact our team on [email protected] with any questions.

HOW DO I SUBMIT MY TIME?

WHAT EVIDENCE DO I NEED TO PROVIDE?

Once you have completed your challenge, send an email to [email protected] with your time in order to feature on our leaderboard. If you are one of the fastest runners in your age category, we will ask for some evidence so we can validate it.

Evidence can be a screenshot from a running app, a photograph of a running watch or treadmill screen. Remember to set these devices before you start your challenge if you are going for a competitive time.

Whether you submit a time or not, you will receive your finisher’s medal via the post. We know that not all participants are going for a fastest time.

DO I HAVE TO COMPLETE THE CHALLENGE IN ONE GO?

Not at all. If you have always wanted to do a Half Marathon but are not ready to do it in one go – feel free to break it down across a few days.

WHO ELSE IS TAKING PART?

Follow us on social media to see who else is taking on the Virtual Cheltenham Challenge. We have a Facebook Group set up where you can share running tips and get ideas for different routes etc. If you see another runner wearing a Cheltenham Challenge t-shirt, be sure to give them a wave and some encouragement!

CAN I TAKE PART WITH MY DOG AND CHILDREN?

Yes Definitely! Please bear in mind that there may be livestock residing in fields which feature on some public footpaths. We advise that you check your route before starting your challenge.

I ENTERED THE LIVE EVENT AND I AM NOT SURE ABOUT A VIRTUAL EVENT, CAN I REQUEST A REFUND?
