We also operate Independent Living Services for 16-17 year olds in local authority care in Gloucestershire and Worcestershire with a number of individual and shared units in each county.
Young people progress through the service with the final objective preparing them to move on to a sustainable independent tenancy. To help them achieve this, we provide:
  • Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) - Delivered by IAG qualified CCP staff at Cheltenham 1st Stop and within CCP Foyer sites.
  • Training, Education and Employment – Integrated training and education programmes are delivered by CCP staff within the housing units. Progression into mainstream education and training provision is achieved through our partner training providers. Young people are supported in all aspects of finding and keeping paid employment and are also encouraged to engage in wide range of leisure, sporting and hobby activities during the evenings and weekends.
  • Support – Young people within CCP Foyer are allocated a key worker who will work with them to implement a Personal Development and Action Plan. This consists of a portable package of support delivered by CCP and specialist partner agencies and is designed to meet the specific needs of the individual. When the young person is ready to move on from Foyer to independent accommodation, the key worker will ensure that they have the essential furnishings and equipment they need, that their utilities are set up, and they are able to pay rent and manage their tenancy. The key worker will ensure they can continue to access all elements of their support package and that partner agencies are aware that the young person has moved. At this point, another local floating support service may become involved to support the young person through the transition to independent living.
