Calling All Gardeners 3rd September 2020 Can you donate any excess fresh fruit and vegetables to support vulnerable people in Cheltenham? “Our Pantry provides an alternative to the standard food parcel. With a corner shop feel, our members can choose approximately £15 worth of food items from the shelves for £3.50 per week. Our Pantry Members are people in the local community of Cheltenham that are living in poverty or are struggling to afford to put food on the table as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.” “We rely on donations to keep stock levels up and are especially keen to receive fresh foods like fruit and vegetables which we can offer members as an alternative or supplement to tins and long-life products.” Sarah Taylor, CCP Pantry Coordinator. For more information about the CCP Pantry: www.ccp.org.uk/pantry Previous Pantry beneficiary, George, is leading the shout out to local gardeners for donations of any excess crop from allotments or vegetable patches. “The outbreak of Covid-19 was a scary time for me, my mother was very poorly having contracted the virus and I feared I was going to lose her. Having previous difficulties with my mental health and then added pressures of Covid-19 I needed something to believe in.” “Being part of a community allotment gave me something to focus on and I loved going to water the plants and watch the food grow. I wanted to do something with the produce and decided that I would support the Pantry having been involved with them in the past.” Donations can be delivered to the CCP Head Office: 340 High Street, Cheltenham, GL50 3JF, Monday – Friday 9am -5pm.
