Christmas is always seen as a special time of year, but this is not the case for everyone. The expense and expectation can place a real strain on any family, but particularly those living in poverty, or facing homelessness or family breakdown. There are also many lonely and vulnerable young people and adults who simply have nobody to be with at this time of year.

Hamper Scamper is CCP’s Christmas Giving Scheme, designed to spread a little cheer to some of the most disadvantaged children, young people, families and vulnerable adults at Christmas.

At Christmas 2016...
2500 gifts for disadvantaged children and young people, worth £50,000
1148 food parcels for families and vulnerable adults living in poverty, worth £80,815
959 volunteers gave 3441 hours worth £46,350
Supported service users in 51 other charitable organisations

Hamper Scamper relies on the generosity of donors and volunteers and represents an ideal opportunity for individuals, organisations and corporate groups to get involved in supporting disadvantaged people in our local communities. There are many ways to take part.

You could….

• Donate food or gifts
• Organise a collection at your workplace, church or school
• Help with sorting, wrapping and packing
• Make a financial contribution – we need to purchase vouchers which make appropriate gifts for some adults and young people

We welcome donations of the following items:

• Gifts for children and young people – please liaise with CCP for specific requirements
• Boxes of chocolates, biscuits, mince pies and other luxury food items
• Food items such as pasta, pasta sauce, rice, long life milk, tea bags, coffee etc.
• Tinned goods such as tuna, beans, soup, meat, curry, vegetables, fruit etc.

Cash donations to Hamper Scamper can be made on-line by credit or debit card, or by text. For example, to donate £5 , simply text “HAMP33 £5″ to 70070.

The Hamper Scamper appeal starts in October each year.
