Quality Assurance
The adoption of effective quality systems has been recommended in major government reviews of the voluntary and community sector. A quality assurance system is a formal system an organisation can use to strengthen the organisation. It sets out expectations that a quality organisation should meet.
It is a system that allows you to respond to the needs of your users, so that you can provide an appropriate service consistently, and to agreed standards. You will be able to provide evidence to say that you are doing so.
PQASSO is a quality assurance system designed by the voluntary and community sector (VCS), for the VCS. Designed by Charities Evaluation Services (CES), PQASSO is a low-cost, straightforward quality system, written in plain English and designed specifically for voluntary sector organisations.
PQASSO provides a flexible, step-by-step approach to working out what your organisation is doing well and what could be improved. By using the self-assessment work pack, the system helps you to set priorities for your organisation's future and improve your organisation's performance.
Quality First is produced by Birmingham Voluntary Services Council (BVSC) and works in a similar way to PQASSO, however it is designed specifically for small community groups with no paid staff.
