We also support and facilitate the voluntary sector's involvement in the National Service Framework for Mental Health. This was the first of the government's NSFs and it has focused the development of mental health services across seven 'Standards' or areas of activity. The voluntary sector provides many different mental health services across city and county, and through the Forum we are welcome and significant participants in planning and development structures.
It is important for us to be able to reflect both local and countywide concerns within the various multi-agency meetings, which are progressing the NSF. Again, this work involves contacts across the City and 2 Counties, 6 PCT's, and the Leicestershire Partnership Trust. We are currently closely involved in service developments including Young People, Carers issues, Advocacy work, Health Promotion, Service User support, Day service provision, Inter-Agency Training and Workforce Development.
Through the Forum, the voluntary sector is working towards having a more pro-active and creative involvement in service development, as well as making a contribution to regional discussions so that we can benefit from wider funding and development opportunities.
