About Advocacy
Advocacy is taking action to help people say what they want, secure their rights, represent their interests and obtain services they need.
Definition of Advocacy
The following definition of Advocacy has been adopted by the Network:
Advocacy promotes social inclusion, equality, and social justice by empowering people. It enables them to express their personal views and needs, thereby achieving their rights and entitlements. It also assists people in securing relevant information and knowledge, enabling them to make informed choices.
More About Advocacy
A leaflet called “Don’t know where to turn?” has been produced by the Advocacy Network. The leaflet describes the situations where someone might need an Advocate, how an Advocate might be able to help, and the organisations that offer advocacy services.
