Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland Neurological Alliance
The Alliance brings together voluntary organisations, self-help groups and statutory agencies who are working to improve the quality of life of those affected by a neurological condition.
These are just a few examples of the organisations who currently attend our meetings:
- Multiple Sclerosis Society
- Motor Neurone Disease
- Fibromyalgia (FLARES)
- Post Polio
- University Hospitals of Leicester
- Primary Care Trusts
- Parkinson’s Disease Society
- Headway
- Mosaic: shaping disability services
- Progressive Supranuclear Palsy
We are affiliated to the national Neurological Alliance – this has now given us ‘a voice’ to campaign at a national level, and a link straight into the Department of Health.
At a local level we have a place on the Physical Disability Program Board – this means that we are able to inform and influence future planning of services and care at the highest level. The Alliance is represented on the Program Board by Jane Connell.
The Program Board leads on the strategic implementation of the National Service Framework for Long Term Conditions, which was published in March 2005.
Meetings are held on a quarterly basis at LOROS. If you want to know more about the LLR Neurological Regional Alliance, or how you can become involved, please contact Christine Middleton at CCP – you would be most welcome.
Note: The NSF for Long Term Conditions is a ten-year plan. The NSF consists of 11 Quality Requirements, which are designed to put the individual at the heart of care and to provide a service that is efficient, supportive and appropriate at every stage from diagnosis to the end of life.
