Management of the children’s centre programme in NW Leics, HBBC and Charnwood will be managed by Leicestershire County Council. 19 of the 24 phase 2 children’s centres fall within these areas along with the 3 phase 1 centres that have been built. (Phase 1 centres have full childcare incorporated into the children’s centre whereas phase 2 and 3 centres will not have childcare on site).

In Melton, Harborough and Oadby/Wigston/Blaby, management of the children’s centre programme will be via a contracted agency or agencies. Expressions of interest to manage these programmes have been out to tender. Children’s Centre Co-ordinators in these localities/districts will be seconded from Leicestershire County Council to the contracted agency or agencies and will have the County Council’s terms and conditions of service.
